Associate call with a contact w same number

Often a relationship with a customer begins with them calling me. At that point they are an unknown number. Once I create the contact in my CRM, I enter their number and other info. But while Dialpad has the contact in it's database, it isn't smart enough to retroactively associate the 1st call with that contact. Is there a way for me to manually assign a call to a new contact?

    Which CRM are you currently using? Something other than Salesforce? Are you only saving these contacts in your CRM and not in Dialpad or a productivity suite like G Suite or Office 365?

    I have a related question - Dialpad correctly displays the corresponding Salesforce record in the right panel, but the Dialpad Contact Name does not "sync" with the Salesforce name and display it- it just displays the phone # in the panel. Is there anyway to get the SFDC contact name to "sync and display" in the Dialpad panel the way the Help article shows? https://help.dialpad.com/hc/en-us/articles/211589563-Use-Salesforce-for-Dialpad
